Zeelandia has become more popular as a recreational area as more facilities and improvements are made to the area.
Although we encourage beach users to bring their trash from their activities home, unfortunately this area tends to accumulate trash. Most of this trash is Marine Litter washing in onto our shores.
Our goal:
To build two concrete shelters (three walls, similar to the ones in the harbor) for new trash bins to be placed in for use by beach visitors. One will be by the beach and the other will be along the road.
Having these bins here and being regularly serviced by the waste facility will allow for more efficient removal of marine debris and encourage beach users to keep the space clean and tidy for everyone's enjoyment.
Additionally, we will do a small beach clean up.
No prior experience necessary, but people with experience are welcome.
